Theresa May phones Donald Trump for a second time in snub to wannabe go-between Farage

Despite Mr Farage sitting favourably with Trump by being the first British politician to visit the States to congratulate the Republican on his election win, Mrs May has rejected the idea of Mr Farage acting as an informal link.

Downing Street last week insisted there was “no vacancy” for Mr Farage to act as a UK-UK advisor, but Trump nevertheless tweeted that the Ukip supremo would make a “great” ambassador to the US.

And Mr Farage is currently preparing to visit the States next week to meet with Trump again.
