A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating an attack in which a corrosive substance was thrown at a woman in Ladywood, Birmingham at around 10am this morning.
Local residents said to be shocked to discover an acid attack took place in a usually peaceful area.
Denise Roberts, 70, who has lived in her terraced house in Northbrook Street for more than 25 years, said: “The only problem usually around here is the kids on quad bikes.
“I feel safe usually and this won’t stop me going out. I was in town this morning at the rag market so I didn’t see anything.”
