BREAKING: Yellow Vest leader arrested over incident involving MP Anna Soubry

A statement by the Metropolitan Police said: “A man in his 30’s has been arrested in central London on suspicion of public order offences committed on 7 January. He remains in custody.”

Mr Goddard’s supporters claimed he was about to hand himself in at Holborn police station at 12pm, according to BBC journalist Daniel Sandford.

Ms Soubry, a prominent supporter of a second EU referendum, was taunted as she was interviewed in Westminster on Monday, and then harangued by a group of men as she made her way back to parliament.

A cross-party group of at least 55 MPs signed a formal letter to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick to express their “serious concerns” about the “deteriorating public order and security situation” outside Parliament.

Speaker Mr Bercow told the Commons on Monday he was “keeping a close eye on events” involving “aggressive and threatening behaviour” towards MPs.
