Keir Starmer to miss PMQs clash with Boris as Labour leader awaits COVID test result

At last week’s PMQs, Sir Keir accused the Government of not being able to “get the basics right” following reports that people were being denied Covid-19 tests.

The UK recorded 3,105 confirmed new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, which was up by almost one-fifth from Monday.

It comes after health minister Matt Hancock admitted the government was working hard to fix “operational challenges” in the testing system, which was caused by a surge in demand and that it may take weeks to resolve the shortages.

He said: “As we expand capacity further we are working round the clock to ensure everyone who needs a test can get a test.”
