US news site The Grio reports Ms Winston Wolkoff, who then had strong links with the fashion industry, helped the future First Lady cultivate her image.
Their friendship continued for years, with Ms Winston Wolkoff eventually becoming Ms Trump’s advisor after Donald Trump’s 2016 US presidential election win.
According to Town and Country magazine, the fashion guru become heavily involved in planning Mr Trump’s 2017 inauguration – the event formally initiating the president into office.
However, the following year the New York Times reported the committee put together to oversee the inauguration event had sent almost $26 million to WIS Media Partners – a company founded by Ms Winston Wolkoff.
