But not everyone agrees. Some have argued that, as the London taxpayer fronts the rest of the budget, they should have priority on ticket sales.
Figures from the Mayor’s Office confirmed just 32 percent of the 106,000 tickets went to residents in 2015.
Fiona Twycross, the Labour party’s London economic spokesman, said: “Given it is London taxpayers who stump up cash to fund the fireworks, we should give them a fair chance at getting tickets.”
