Giggs, like Scholes, came through the club’s academy and won every major prize available in English football during a glittering career, teaming up with some of the greats of the game over a 20-year period.
Ronaldo, who has won the Ballon d’Or five times, is the obvious choice in terms of those who achieved the most during their career, but Scholes was the player who shone brightest at Old Trafford, in Giggs’ opinion.
‘The best player I played with is Cristiano Ronaldo,’ Giggs told Manchester United’s social media channels.
‘Obviously he was only there for a short space of time and he was brilliant
for United and then went on to do even better elsewhere. Or not even better just as well as United.
‘Scholesy is the best player I’ve played with at United, you’ve all seen it in training you couldn’t get near him.
‘His brain was just quicker than everyone else, his range of passing, nasty.
‘You think you’ve got him and he’ll just pop it off and give it the little faint. He was just brilliant in training.’
