The next lunar eclipse visible from the UK will be a partial eclipse of the Moon on July 16, 2019.

During the partial eclipse, up to 50 percent of the Moon will vanish in the Earth’s darkest shadow, the umbra.

Dr Brown said: “The one that is coming up on July 16 is not a total lunar eclipse, as we had a few days ago, but it’s a partial one.

“If you look at it, the Moon enters the core shadow and sort of dips in there to about half and then moves out, so it never goes fully in there but about half of the Full Moon face is covered by our shadow.
