The family of a woman found dead in a Preston street after being brutally assaulted have paid tribute to her, and say their priority is now to look after her son.
Rosie Darbyshire, 27, was discovered by emergency services on a pavement in Preston following reports of an altercation at 2am on Thursday.
Police found the victim had been subjected to a brutal and sustained assault. A subsequent post mortem examination has revealed Darbyshire died as a result of serious head injuries.
A 25-year-old man from Preston, arrested on suspicion of murder close to where she was found, remains in custody at this time.
Darbyshire’s family said: “It doesn’t seem real that our crazy, wig-wearing, talented, goofy Rosie won’t be bursting through the door in song anymore.
“We are utterly heartbroken and don’t doubt that this devastating news will be affecting so many more people than we could ever imagine.
“We ask for time to grieve and attempt to process this as a family. Rosie’s wonderful son is our priority now.”
Tributes have been flooding social media and floral tributes are being left at the scene of her death.
