Scott McTominay is set to come back into the Manchester United starting XI for Wednesday night’s huge clash with rivals Manchester City after the side were put through their paces at The Cliff.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made the decision to bring his squad back to the club’s legendary training ground – which they swapped for Carrington in 2000 – on the morning of the derby.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 20-man squad arrived by bus and were split up into groups by assistant boss Mike Phelan.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s old number two, who trained and coached at The Cliff, delivered separate motivational talks to the players to remind them what is expected tonight.
Solskjaer also pulled McTominay aside separately for a one-on-one chat to gee up the young midfielder, who is likely to play a big role at Old Trafford.
The Scot was dropped for the weekend defeat to Everton and his tenacity and hard work were missed in midfield, but he is now expected to start as United try to thwart City’s title bid and reignite their own top-four hopes.
Speaking to MUTV before the match, Solskjaer echoed his messaged to the players: ‘Whoever gets picked has to be ready, because if you don’t turn up there’s no hiding place on the pitch.

‘The proof is out there. So go out there, puff your chest out again and show you want to be a Man United player.’
United have also relocated hotel for the visit of City, swapping The Lowry for The Hilton, which is closer to the stadium, as they look to shorten the hour-and-a-half journey that came when Barcelona visited two weeks ago – ironically something that Jose Mourinho also did.
