The “culprit” behind the cosmic collision is the larger galaxy NGC 4490.
The galaxy is the bright yellow cluster of light seen in the lower portion of the image.
According to the Space Telescope Science Institute, the two galaxies came into contact millions of years ago.
Now, the two bodies are roughly 24,000 light-years or 141,087,010,000,000,000 miles apart.
