Today, the hole is no longer a safety hazard, as the reservoir is roped off and prohibits swimming or boating.
But this has not always been the case.
Swimming nearby is luckily now prohibited, but back in 1997, Emily Schwalek died after being caught in the current while paddling in the area.
She was swept down the pipe after holding on to the rim for about 20 minutes.
In a video uploaded to social media platform Gfycat back in 2018, and later recirculated on reddit, footage of the “Glory Hole” raked in hundreds of thousands of views.
But not all viewers were impressed, leaving some terrified.
