Elon Musk wants to launch AI satellites from the Moon using giant catapult
The concept of a lunar catapult harks back to Cold War-era research into space colonisation. On the atmosphere-free Moon, with reduced gravity and absence of weather systems, an electromagnetic launch mechanism could, theoretically, propel cargo – including raw materials, fuel or satellites – into space without requiring rockets.
