Leandro Trossard speaks out on his Arsenal future and reveals how close he came to leaving
Leandro Trossard believes he will remain at Arsenal next season and see out the final year of his contract.
The Belgium international has been one of the shrewdest signings of Mikel Arteta’s tenure even if there was a stroke of fortune about the circumstances behind his arrival at the club.
Chelsea’s decision to hijack Arsenal’s move for Mykhailo Mudryk thre years ago forced the Gunners to look for a cheaper alternative.
And while the Ukraine winger has failed to live up to expectations, Trossardhave proven to be £27million well spent following his move from Brighton.

The versatile forward played a key part in the run-in this season, scoring the vital late goal in a 1-0 win at West Ham that put Arsenal on course to end a 22-year wait to life the Premier League title.
With the Gunners set to bolster their squad, most likely in attack, over the summer Trossard’s future is again a matter of speculation, although he appears to be in little doubt as to where he will be playing his football next season.
‘At the moment, yes,’ Trossard said, when asked if he would remain at Arsenal beyond the World Cup.
‘I still have one year on my contract, and hopefully, first we win the Champions League.
‘Then I think next season can be another very nice season.’
Trossard was close to leaving last summer with a move to Turkey heavily touted before he signed a new contract on improved financial terms.
‘Competition is always there,’ he said. ‘I am not afraid of that,” he said. “They can bring in whoever they want. I know that I can hold my own.
