Liam Gallagher mocked Harry Kane after the England skipper lost his voice in a hilarious post match interview that followed England’s dramatic World Cup win over Mexico.

The Three Lions skipper scored the penalty which ultimately proved the difference as Thomas Tuchel’s side edged a dramatic five-goal thriller to set up a quarter-final against Norway in Miami on Saturday.

After the final whistle England’s players rushed to celebrate with their fans and, in now customary fashion, sang along to the iconic Oasis hit song Wonderwall.

Kane must’ve put just as much effort into his singing as he did during another typically selfless performance given he was virtually unable to talk during his brief conversation with the BBC’s Kelly Sommers after the game.

Kane did at least have just about enough left in the tank to praise a formidable team effort that helped overcome the co-hosts, who had only lost two previous matches at the Azteca Stadium.

He said: ‘It was a crazy game. We had to fight and we had to find something.

‘I’ve just been singing, I can’t really talk. The occasion, the team, everything against us, we found a way.’

Having restored England’s two-goal lead with a well taken penalty shortly after Quansah’s dismissal, Kane turned villain by conceding the spot kick from which Raul Jimenez reduced the deficit.

Kane added: ‘I thought I got to the ball first, it was one of those days. The ref gave a lot against us. In the end it didn’t matter so I’m happy.’

Those sentiments were echoed by Tuchel who masterminded the most significant result of his tenure to date.

He said: What drama from the first minute. What a crazy game. What an emotional roller-coaster. What a national anthem from the Mexican people. I am so proud I was part of it.
