Spurs confident of Eriksen deal

Spurs are determined to keep hold of midfield maestro Christian Eriksen, even though talks over a new deal have stalled.

The Daily Mail says the Dane has been reluctant to commit his future to the Lilywhites, despite their willingness to double his £70,000-a-week wages.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been mentioned as possible destinations for the 26-year-old, but Spurs have not given up on persuading him to extend his contract, which expires in 2020.

“Tottenham believe they can have him sign an extension before the end of this season, when a decision would need to be made on whether to sell,” says the paper.

“Dele Alli signed a new £150,000-a-week deal in October while Harry Kane’s is worth £200,000, which makes him the best-paid player at the north London club.”

Arsenal offer £14m for Navas

With David Ospina set to sign permanently for Napoli this month and Petr Cech now 36, Arsenal are in the market for a new goalkeeper, and have reportedly made a £14m bid for Real Madrid stopper Keylor Navas.

“The Costa Rican international played a big part in the club’s treble Champions League triumphs titles under Zinedine Zidane but he has featured just five times this season,” reports the Daily Mirror. 

“He has fallen beyond Belgian Thibaut Courtois after his summer switch from Chelsea.”

The Gunners will face competition from Roma for his signature.

Ozil to stay with Arsenal

Mesut Ozil has featured in just 13 of Arsenal’s 21 Premier League games this season and was taken off at half time against Brighton recently, prompting speculation about his relationship with boss Unai Emery.

However, The Sun reports that the German playmaker has no intention of leaving and wants a new Emirates deal.

The paper reports there have been claims he could be used in a swap deal with Real Madrid for Isco, but says “the player is believed to be desperate to remain at Arsenal, with his agent insisting he loves the club and is proud to be a part of the team”.

His Mr Ten-Per-Cent, Dr Erkut Sogut, said: ““Mesut signed a new contract last January because he saw his future at Arsenal and nothing has changed in his mind. He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer.

“Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club. He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else.

Malcom in a muddle

Everton are back in for summer target Malcom, who appears to be regretting his decision to ignore the Toffees, turn down Roma and sign for Barcelona earlier this year.

The Liverpool Echo reports: “Having played 97 minutes of La Liga football since joining Barcelona from Bordeaux, reports in Spain have suggested Malcom could leave in January in search of regular playing time with several clubs in China monitoring his situation.”

The paper adds that according to reports in Spain, Everton have “revived their interest in him and asked about the possibility of bringing him to Goodison Park this month”, where he could team up with fellow Brazilian Richarlison.

Solanke loan deal collapses

England striker Dominic Solanke’s loan move from Liverpool to Crystal Palace has collapsed because of “concerns over his fitness”, says the BBC. 

“Palace manager Roy Hodgson confirmed the 21-year-old was a target for the January transfer window on Sunday.

“But Solanke has not made a first-team appearance for Liverpool this season and was ruled out of recent matches because of a muscle problem.

“Palace need a striker who is available to play immediately.”

New deal for Sturridge

Despite becoming a bit-part player for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, striker Daniel Sturridge, who is out of contract at the end of the season could be offered a new deal at Anfield reports Mail Online. 

The injury-prone former England sharp shooter has attracted interest from Sevilla, Valencia, Monaco, AC Milan and Inter plus clubs in the Chinese Super League,” says the Mail, “but Liverpool have no intention of allowing him to leave in January”.

“Sturridge is still valued by Jurgen Klopp as the 29-year old provides quality competition for his Liverpool strike force and would prove difficult to replace.”
