After their 381-run thrashing in the first Test against the West Indies England will head to Antigua looking to bounce back in the three-match series.
Joe Root’s side were well under-par in Barbados and suffered a batting collapse in the first innings which saw them bowled out for just 77.
England opener Rory Burns says the squad must learn their lessons from the Barbados defeat and focus on levelling the series against the fired-up Windies.
He told Sky Sports: “Finishing the Test there was obviously disappointment that we hadn’t performed as well as we wanted to.
“But leaving the ground it was, ‘how do we respond, how do we come back from that?’ and almost to use it as a lesson and something to build on, placing a higher value on your wicket and transfer pressure back onto bowlers if they bowl well.
“There are a few meetings before and after [the match] where we’ll talk about these things and how we get better and how we keep improving. It’s a bit of a blip but how do we take that forward? How do we use that as a lesson and improve?”
The second Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua starts on Thursday 31 January. Play begins at 2pm (UK time).
Sky Sports Cricket will broadcast live from Antigua, coverage starts on Thursday at 1.30pm. TalkSPORT will bring live radio commentary from 1pm.
The final Test of the three-match series takes place from 9-13 February in St Lucia. As well as the three Test matches, England take on the Windies in five one-day internationals (ODI) and three Twenty20 (T20) games.
