England head into the final Test against the West Indies knowing they are only playing for pride after suffering another thrashing on their Caribbean tour.

In the second Test match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, Joe Root’s England lost by ten wickets to the in-form West Indies.

After scoring only 187 and 132 runs in their two batting innings, captain Root said: “We’ve been outperformed once again and that’s quite hard to take. Scoring under 200 isn’t going to win you many games of cricket.

“West Indies know these conditions well and they’ve exploited them to their advantage. They’ve played some really good stuff at times and made it very difficult. They’re fully deserving of winning the series.”

West Indies captain Jason Holder will miss the third Test match which starts on Saturday at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium. All-rounder Holder, 27, has been handed a one-match suspension by the International Cricket Council following his side’s slow over-rate in the second Test.

When is the 3rd Test?

The final Test of the three-match series takes place from 9-13 February in St Lucia. After the conclusion of the Test series, West Indies and England will play five one-day internationals (ODI) and three Twenty20 (T20) games.
