The lunar eclipse is already well underway, having begun around 5.07pm GMT today.

The Moon is now sailing towards the centre of Earth’s penumbral shadow where it will peak later tonight.

The peak, or maximum eclipse, will occur around 7.10pm GMT.

Just 11 minutes later, the Moon will position itself directly across from the Sun and officially become the Full Moon.

After that, the Moon will leave Earth’s shadow and wrap up today’s spectacle by 9.12pm GMT.
