Police are still searching for a missing 21-year-old student who disappeared in Hull on Thursday night.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries as they look for Libby Squire, who studies at the University of Hull.

More than 50 officers were out searching for her on Friday, and friends have appealed for information on social media in a bid to help bring her home safely.

It is believed that a search party organised by fellow students will also go out looking for Squire on Saturday afternoon.

She was reported missing after getting into a taxi outside the Welly club in Hull at around 11pm on Thursday.

Squire was then spotted at around 11.45pm by a motorist who got out of his car in order to help her on Beverley Road near the junction with Beresford Avenue.

Humberside Police have now urged residents around the area where she disappeared to look in their sheds and outbuildings in case the student has taken shelter from the wintry weather.

Superintendent Simon Gawthorpe said: “Libby has not been seen since late Thursday night.

“We’re asking local residents living in the Beverley Road, Cottingham Road and around the university area to check their gardens, outbuildings and sheds to see if Libby has taken shelter somewhere.

“We particularly would like residents around Haworth Street to get in touch.”

He added: “A large amount of my officers are searching for Libby and we want you to help us find her too.

“Thank you to members of the public, students, staff and security at the university for assisting us in our search for Libby so far.”

Squire is described as being 5ft 7in, with shoulder-length brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved top, a leather jacket and a black denim skirt with lace.
