Where is New Horizons now?

According to NASA’s mission update, at the time of writing the probe was located 29,653 miles (477,238 km) from Ultima Thule as it begins to move away from the mysterious object which is the focus of this mission.

New Horizons was programmed to get as close as 2,200 miles (3,500 km) to Ultima’s surface at the mission’s peak, and to observe its rotation, geology, composition and environment.

At 4 billion miles (6.5 billion km) from Earth, the encounter is the most distant ever exploration of a Solar System body.
